When does the baby start to run?

There are a few milestones in your child's life that you won't forget. The first independent step is without question. But especially for early parents, there are many questions about learning to walk. When do the kids start running? What stages of development lie ahead? And when can there be a developmental disorder?

The amount of time you can expect the first steps of your descendants is quite long. About 75% of all babies begin to explore the world on their own between the ages of 12 and 14 months. The remaining 25% falls between 8 and 12 or 14 to 20 months. Question When does the baby start to run? Generally can not answer. Every child will find their own rhythm here.

It is only when your baby does not make any movement to move on two feet at the age of about 20 months that the ability to restrict movement. However, potential physical disabilities are often recognized later.

The first steps from a baby

The first steps in a baby rarely come overnight. Because to be able to stand on two legs independently, many areas of the body and brain must be trained. A secure head position, the ability to coordinate arms and legs and enough muscular strength to hold your own weight are just a few examples.
Accordingly, learning how to walk does not happen without your child's full preparation. Most babies start crawling between 6 and 10 months of age. And even if some babies skip this stage completely, at least they will crawl on the floor for a while before starting.

From seals to cows to the first steps

The switch between sealing, crawling and running can be quite smooth. When the baby takes the first steps, it can usually pull itself up on objects and stand without assistance for a few seconds. This usually happens between December and 14th of life.

If the baby starts walking very early, it can also cause problems in some cases. This applies to children who tried to walk before the eighth month. At this age, both bones and muscles are not developed enough to withstand the new strain. In this case it is best to contact a pediatrician.

Walk and run independently

Learning to walk with your baby is divided into several stages. Once the first steps have been taken, your baby has to get used to mastering this new way of moving. The first attempts to walk often end up within very short walking distance. After that, your baby will deliberately walk towards your foot or look for a chair. Without a stop nearby, the children will simply land on their bum.

If your baby wants to run, you can provide support by holding it by hand. Baby walkers are also helpful during this time. It is important that you do not stress your baby unnecessarily, for example by repeatedly asking your baby to walk. A blend of running and running is quite normal.

Once the first steps have been taken, it takes about eight weeks to walk safely. Most of the time, tiny people glide through the apartment faster than you think.

Freedom of movement promotes walking learning

Try to put your baby down regularly without restrictions. If it is on its back and can kick frantically, this helps build muscle. For example, if it is fixed in a seesaw or similar throughout the day, this can slow down development.

This also applies to the night. Make sure the sleeping bag, for example, provides enough space to move around. If you're outside with a stroller, there's always toys in your luggage. Even ten minutes in the pasture, for example, while siblings are raging on a climbing tower, is a good training for your little baby.
